Premieres

Continuing our September film month theme, come and mark the last days of summer with beer, popcorn and some fresh new experimental documentary films by young local talent.

Firedive is Tim Bowditch’s short documentary about La Vallette Bathing pools in Guernsey.  Shot in September last year and fresh off the back of its poolside premiere in Guernsey, Firedive will be shown for the first time in London.  The film explores the collective memory of Islanders recollecting the floodlit galas and fire dives that once took place.

Araf is the working title of a short film by Owen Richards and Andrew Telling that follows, photographer Robin Friend into the hidden world beneath the hills of North Wales.

EXTRAMISSION: On the Research of Professor J. Hillard is a film by the ARKA group, commissioned by Cornerhouse. The film is made from the video recordings of a professor of Entomology and Ornithology as he travels across the globe as part of his research. The ARKA group attempted to decipher the story of the Professor’s tapes with help from his secretary, Patricia Mayhew.

There will be additional premiere screenings of works by Andrew Telling and Giulietta Verdon-Roe so come on down!
